Description
Anthracite Filter Media is a hard, low-density granular filtration media used extensively in water-treatment filters. In multimedia filtration systems, anthracite is commonly used as the upper filtration layer above denser media such as silica sand and garnet.
Its relatively low bulk density allows larger anthracite particles to remain above the finer, denser media after backwashing, helping maintain a graded filter bed. This configuration supports solids loading through greater bed depth and can improve the effective use of the filtration bed when correctly designed.
